Kratos defeats her, but Athena begs him not to kill her as she has a vision that if he does so, he will be destroyed by Zeus’ power and suffer the same fate as Ares when he killed his mother, Hera. He kills Helios, Persephone, Aphrodite, Apollo and Artemis before facing Athena, who transforms into her goddess form after being stabbed by Kratos’ Blade of Olympus. After defeating Zeus and his army, Kratos flies to Mount Olympus with the Titans to kill the gods who imprisoned him. The story continues from God of War: Chains of Olympus left off. The gameplay features new moves for Kratos, emphasising platforming elements such as high jumps and wall-climbing abilities, along with new weapons, including the Blades of Exile and Pandora’s Box (which allows Kratos to use further magic attacks). However, he must stop Ares’ plans for world domination involving Zeus’ Master Bolt being thrown down to Earth, which would destroy all life on Earth except for those protected by a magical barrier created by the gods that surround Mount Olympus. Seeking revenge against Ares, Kratos embarks on a quest to find Pandora’s Box once he opens it, all of his evils will be unleashed upon the world. The story focuses on Kratos a Spartan warrior tricked into killing his wife and daughter by his former master, Ares. It was released worldwide between March 13 and April 16, 2007. Originally released for the PlayStation 2, it is the fifth instalment in the God of War series, the sequel to God of War, and the second game in terms of chronological narrative.
